Your faculty member might be interested in the SLART® publication on The Second Life® Art World. It is catalogued under Gaming, Digital Art, Virtual Worlds, Virtual Art, Interactive Media, 3-D Media Art, Internet Art and similar fields.

The faculty member also may be interested in the continually updated website at http://slartmagazine.com.

A different question is whether "journal" is the correct category, rather than "monograph," "magazine," "artist's book," or "limited edition artwork." The print version is intended as an archivally produced summary and expansion of the subjects addressed on the website, with additional articles and papers by a variety of academic professionals, artists, writers and players. This edition primarily addressed the art produced in Second Life, as it was the first virtual world to provide artists with creative tools and intellectual property rights, but future issues are intended to broaden coverage to other virtual worlds, and to virtual art that is not based on virtual world platforms.

Your faculty member might also want to have the pdf of the paper presented at the 2007 SLCC on "The Art World Market of Second Life®." You can download it free and print out your own archival copy if you want it on paper at
