Alternative Voices Speakers Fund
As you prepare your conference proposals (workshop/session/etc.) please remember that a new fund is available, the Alternative Voices Speakers Fund, that you may want to consider applying
for to enhance your session.
The purpose of the Alternative Voices Speakers Fund is to bring a diversity of voices to the ARLIS/NA annual conferences by encouraging the participation of non-ARLIS/NA speakers from
traditionally underrepresented racial or ethnic groups. The fund supports attendance costs and a small honorarium. Attendance costs may include travel, hotel, and meal expenses.
Eligibility: Non-ARLIS/NA members who self-identify with one or more traditionally underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, and whose names have been proposed to participate as conference
speakers by session organizers or Conference Program Chairs.
Selection Process: Fund recipients will be selected annually by the Alternative Voices Speakers Fund Committee. The committee is charged with reviewing all proposals identified on the
session proposal form as suitable for consideration. Additionally, the Committee may also consider other session proposals that have not been explicitly identified on the form, if they feel they are eligible for consideration.
Proposals must be submitted as part of the regular conference session proposal process to the Conference Program Chairs. A separate form for this award shall be completed by the proposer,
identifying the names of the proposed speakers, their eligibility, amount of institutional support, if any, and anticipated expenditures for attendance.
All proposers will be alerted by the committee no later than four months prior to the conference as to the status of their submission. Following this, award recipients will be notified
by the proposer and upon and the recipient's acceptance, receipts will be recognized via ARLIS/NA website, and included in any printed or online conference programming information.
