"Value Statements"

Dear colleagues,

I am inquiring as to whether any of our organizations—museums, cultural and academic institutions—have official/organizational value statements, or appraisals, in regard to their art research libraries.  Value, that is, to the organization itself as well as to the greater scholarly community—value, as in added value, clout, respect, collection support, local community use, scholarly status, etc.  I would exclude mission statements or strategic plans unless they have a specific sub-statement to this effect.  This document would likely be one originated at the board and administrative level with the assistance of library staff.

If your organization does have such a statement, would you please send me a copy with any contextual notes?  Should there prove to be a collection of such statements, I will compile this information and supply it to anyone upon request.  In any case, I would appreciate your comments on my inquiry.
