The Savannah College of Art and Design seeks qualified candidates for the position of Dean of Library Services in Savannah. The Dean is responsible for the administration, direction, scheduling and planning of library services for the college.  The Dean will work in close collaboration with the head librarian to maintain close communication and integration with the SCAD-Atlanta Library's staff, resources and services. The person in this position also works in collaboration with SCAD-Savannah administration, faculty and staff to integrate library services, resources and staff into all appropriate college activities and functions to fulfill the instructional and scholarly needs of the students and faculty.

 

Qualifications include an ALA-accredited M.L.S. degree, Ph.D. preferred, a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in a subject discipline taught by SCAD, the ability to provide leadership in all aspects of the library including supervision of staff, scheduling, collection development and liaison work with SCAD-Atlanta staff. Other required qualifications include a minimum of five years of library and supervisory experience, a strong client services orientation and familiarity with traditional and electronic information resources. The Dean must demonstrate working knowledge of emerging information resources. Candidates should have strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as knowledge of interlibrary loan policies, procedures and activities.
