The ARLIS/NY Chapter is
pleased to announce Cheryl M. Costello as the recipient of the 2008 Celine
Palatsky Travel Award. This award supports travel for a chapter member to
attend the ARLIS/NA annual conference.
Cheryl is the Art and
Architecture Librarian at Pratt Institute, where she has been in that position
since September 2007. As a new art librarian, this year will be Cheryl’s
first time attending the ARLIS/NA conference. In Cheryl’s submission she
mentioned the importance of conference attendance for “meeting new
contacts, reconnecting with familiar faces from the past, learning new trends
within the profession, developing new or improving current skills, and dabbling
in areas of interest.” We congratulate Cheryl and look forward to her
participation in ARLIS on both the local and national level.
Celine Palatsky was a
longtime ARLIS/NY member who passed away in 1999. She served as the Chapter's
Treasurer from 1979 to 1993, and was an avid and enthusiastic traveler.
