Christine et al, A helpful website is the Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau's downtown hotel listings at http://denver.org/Listings.aspx?SID=2&LID=140. Please use caution--their definition of "downtown" is much broader than what is walkable to the Grand Hyatt. Some of the hotels I identified from this list that would work in terms of distance are: Adams Mark/Sheraton 1550 Court Pl Comfort Inn Downtown 401 17th St Courtyard by Marriott 934 16th St Crowne Plaza 1450 Glenarm Pl Residence Inn by Marriott 1725 Champa Denver Marriott City Center 1701 California Hotel Monaco 1717 Champa St Magnolia Hotel 818 17th St The Curtis 1405 Curtis St I'd also recommend checking the hotels through different sites such as expedia.com or hotels.com to see if one offers lower rates than the other. Please let me know if you have any questions. For Karen and those looking for rooms - I'm not from the Denver area, but when I called last week, I was given three nearby hotels: Brown Palace - two blocks away 303-297-3111 [their government rates may be comparable or cheaper than Grand Hyatt conference rate] Marriott - 2 blocks north 1707 California Street 303-297-1300 Comfort Inn - 1 block away 303-296-0400 Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: ART LIBRARIES SOCIETY DISCUSSION LIST [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Karen DeWitt Sent: Monday, March 31, 2008 10:40 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [ARLIS-L] roommate? and room? Well, I guess I left this too late; I called the conference hotel for a room, and they are sold out of rooms at the conference rate. Is anyone still looking for a non-smoking female roommate? Or can anyone suggest a nearby hotel? -- Karen DeWitt Director of the Harrye B. Lyons Design Library North Carolina State University Libraries Harrye B.
