Dear ARLIS/NA Membership,

Report on recent Bylaws Revisions Vote:

All the ballots have been counted and the proposed revisions to the Bylaws
passed. Over 20% of the membership voted. Though the vote was
overwhelmingly in favor of the changes, the Board realizes that there are
strong opinions particularly around the change from having regional
representatives on the board to having board positions focused on functional
aspects of the society's work. To address these concerns board members have
prepared descriptions of their new roles as they are playing out in this
transition and these will be posted to the website.

As discussed at the membership meeting in Atlanta, these changes to the
organizational structure suggested by a survey of the membership by the
Assessment Task Force, represent a significant transition for the society.
The goal is to make our organization more flexible and more efficient as we
move into the future with new initiatives and goals.

The Board appreciates your participation in the vote and welcomes your
questions and feedback. We also look forward to seeing you all at the
Membership Meeting in Denver -- which will include breakfast! -- Monday, May
5, 8-10 am.

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

 -- Rebecca
    ARLIS/NA Secretary
