Dumbarton Oaks seeks creative and self-motivated art
historian, archaeologist, or anthropologist for three-year appointment. The
Pre-Columbian Assistant Curator will be expected to assist in curatorial,
research, and administrative tasks and to make significant contributions to the
access to existing collections, special projects, and further development of
the collections. Reporting to the Curator, Image Collections & Fieldwork
Archives, this is an excellent opportunity for an energetic person with a
strong commitment to and experience with public service and research in
Pre-Columbian art and archaeology.

Required: PhD in Art History, Archaeology, or
Anthropology with a specialization in Pre-Columbian studies. Knowledge of
Spanish. Experience using a relational database and image management software.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated organizational
abilities and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and
collaboratively. Experience scanning photographs or slides; working knowledge
of Adobe Photoshop or comparable software is preferred. Previous work
experience in a library or visual resources collection, including slides,
photographs and digital images, in particular experience cataloging photographs
or original art work using relevant rules and standards is preferred.
Salary range $44,000+ depending on experience.
