Head of the Art & Architecture Library

Virginia Tech

 

The University Libraries at Virginia Tech seeks a service-oriented, innovative, and self-motivated librarian to provide leadership for the Art and Architecture Library serving the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. The incumbent will manage the daily operations of the branch library; develop, deliver, and assess instruction, reference, and outreach services to faculty and students in Art and Art History, Architecture, Building Construction, Industrial Design, Interior Design, and Landscape Architecture.

 

Required Qualifications: 

- Graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA accredited institution or its equivalent.

- Bachelor's or advanced degree in art, art history, architecture or related discipline.

- Evidence of leadership abilities.

- Experience with library instruction, electronic resources, and collection development.

- Evidence of strong background in the knowledge and use of technology and its application to library and information services.

- Evidence of strong commitment to public service/customer service.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Librarians at Virginia Tech are expected to be active professionally and to contribute to developments in the profession.
