DAPHNE MARILYN
CROSS (ROLOFF)
Peacefully on February 6, 2008 in
Ottawa. Daughter of the late Hon. Eric W. Cross and A. Jean Cross of
Woodstock, Ontario, sister of Dalton Cross of Ottawa and mother of
Katherine Petz of Poolesville, Maryland. Aunt of Lynn, Suzanne, Kim
and Lisa Cross and great aunt of David Cross, Arie, Seija and Tasya
Molema. Daphne shared her love of beauty, art and education with her
family, colleagues and students of art and architecture. Executive
Director of the Ryerson and Burnham Libraries at the Art Institute of
Chicago, 1977-1985. A gifted administrator and fundraiser, Daphne
worked tenaciously to develop the art libraries of the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Clark Art Institute,
and the Canadian Centre for Architecture. Daphne will be dearly
missed. With deep gratitude for the exemplary care of the nursing
staff at the Grace Manor. A private family service will be held. In
memory of Daphne, donations may be made to the Library of Trinity
College, University of Toronto.
