Broward County Main Library's Bienes Museum of the Modern Book: The
Dianne and Michael Bienes Special Collections and Rare Book Library,
presents an exhibition from the collections of the members of the
Fontaneda Society: Book Collectors of South Florida. The exhibit will be
on view in the Bienes Museum's galleries on the sixth floor of the Main
Library, 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from January
17 - March 14, 2008.

 

Highlighted in the exhibition are selected items from the following
collection subject areas: 18th - and 19th- century cookbooks; children's
books by Pennsylvania artists and authors; letterpress books from the
Golden Hind Press; ABC books; ballet books and memorabilia; Cleveland
Amory printed memorabilia; United States regional bibliography and
subject literature; books by and about Frank Lloyd Wright; artists'
books; books about books and collecting; and books on jazz discography.

The Fontaneda Society serves the interests of booklovers through studies
in book collecting, fine printing and related graphic arts, bookbinding
and the many amenities of book design, typography and bibliography. The
Society is an independent group of book collectors that draws many of
its members from the south Florida counties of Broward; Miami-Dade; and
Palm Beach, although it also has other Florida and national members.

 

The Society is a member of the prestigious Fellowship of American
Bibliophilic Societies (FABS), an association of other book collectors
groups throughout the United States that shares ideas and information on
the book arts.

 

The Society's meetings are held the third Thursday of the month from
October to May at 7 p.m., at Broward County Main Library's, Bienes
Museum of the Modern Book. The meetings are free and open to the public
