Hello,

In our firm library I catalog materials and technical literature by csi
and/or masterformat number, because the specification writers who use this
material most, and the manufacturer's reps who keep me supplied, both use
these systems to track where their product lives in the grand scheme of
building materials. The csi system is fairly primitive compared to other
classification systems but it keeps like with like and the users seem to
find that most intuitive. It also helps that the sweets catalogs are ordered
by masterformat, so if a designer finds a product in sweets they want to
see, it will be in the same place on the shelf, more or less.

All the best,

Jason Miller
