HECATOMBE 9-11, a limited edition artist's book, is a response to the 9-11 attacks on the United States. This memorial book is an attempt to come to terms with an experience that is a constant open wound for the nation. It incorporates all the victims' names along with photographs of destroyed buildings and the impromptu memorials created by loved ones on downtown walls. It is dedicated to those who have sacrificed their lives to protect our freedoms. The structure of the book symbolically reflects the two towers, which are connected by a wall of images in the center accordion structure. The photographs were taken by the artist and the victim's names are from the web site http:www.september11victims.com designed by Alex Spektor. The book was written, (text and poem) designed and printed by the artist. The text and images are laser printed, using Mohawk for the accordion images, Fabriano Tiziano for the endsheets, and Pergamena for the covers. The cover title is laser stenciled to create a void. The end sheets are relief printed. Edition of 50. © Memory Press 2007. The book is accompanied by three intaglio prints in the deluxe edition. Night Before the Day, Skeletal Remains and Waiting Urns.
