The New York chapter is very happy to announce the recipients of this year's inaugural Sherman Clarke Professional Development Award:

Suzanna Simor, Coordinator of Art & Music Libraries, Queens College, CUNY
Awarded $500 for support with image license fees for her forthcoming monograph "Imaging the Creed: Visualizations of the Christian Creeds from Charlemagne to Luther" (Brepols/Harvey Miller, 2009).

Sara Harrington, Art Librarian at the Rutgers University Art Library
Awarded $240 to support research travel to the Shaker Library of the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester, Maine, for work on a book-length annotated bibliography on Shaker arts and material culture.

Congratulations to both Suzanna and Sara!

This is the first time the New York chapter has offered this award. Given the high quality of the receipients' projects, we look forward to offering it again next year. If you have a project or training need in mind that could use additional financial support, please keep it in mind and look out for our announcement about next year's award.

The award is named for one of our most prominent members, and was inspired by Sherman's receipt of the ARLIS/NA Distinguished Service Award in 2006.

For this year's award committee,

James Mitchell
Paula Gabbard
Barbara Rockenbach
