BOOK / PAPER / SCISSORS: Artist’s Book Fair

The Philadelphia Center for the Book and the Free Library of Philadelphia present BOOK / PAPER / SCISSORS: Artist’s Book Fair on Saturday, November 17, from 10 am to 4 pm, at the Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine Street.

Come to look, come to shop, come to play. This event features artists’ books, handmade paper art, prints, paper jewelry, blank books . . . if it’s paper-based art, it’s here. There will be more than 30 artists selling and showing work, an exhibit of recent acquisitions from the Free Library’s Artists’ Book collection (up in the Print & Picture Collection), and book and paper workshops that are kid and klutz friendly. Forget about those yawn-inspiring holiday gifts. You will find unique (and affordable) works of art here suitable for everyone on your list — or you may just look, enjoy and find inspiration for your own creativity at this festive event.

The Philadelphia Center for the Book is an organization with roots in both the venerable history of traditional book arts and in the exploration of experimental book forms of the 21st century. Drawing on the rich cultural traditions of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Center for the Book serves as a catalyst to advance the book as a vital contemporary art form, connecting the diverse community of institutions and individuals whose passion is books.
