The Fleet Library at Rhode Island School of Design is proud to announce: "Altered Books: Transitions & Transformation", an exhibition of work from the Book of Hours series by Sherrill Hunnibell, November 19, 2007 through January 25, 2008, at 15 Westminster Street, Providence, RI. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9-7; Friday, 9-4; and Sunday, Noon-7, closed Saturday. Hours may vary during the holidays. Sherrill Hunnibell is a RISD alumna whose work in mixed media painting/drawing/constructions has included altered books and alternative books for about 15 years. Sherrill's work has been exhibited at the Fuller Craft Museum (Brockton, MA); the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park (Lincoln, MA); the Rhode Island School of Design Museum (Providence, RI) and in numerous other galleries and museums throughout New England and the Mid-West. She is a professor emerita of studio art at the Community College of Rhode Island, where she taught foundation drawing, design and color courses for thirty-nine years. Sherrill's pieces are rich in visual and textural detail, layered symbolism, and unique juxtapositions of found objects, texts and images. Each unique piece is a meditation, evoking dreams and memories. All are welcome!
