Peggy,
I haven't heard of any moves within LC to shift from E/F for Native American art or from TR for photography. Some contemporary Indian artists, particularly if the style and/or iconography is not especially traditional (whatever that means), may be classified in N rather than E/F. I tried to find an example in the LC catalog and only found E/Fs. But I know I've heard LC say that they do classify contemporary Indian artists in N.

Generally speaking, this is not an era when doing a major reclassification is likely to be pursued .... for a variety of reasons.

On classifying photography, you might mention (and you may have already) the NH schedule which is used by a number of libraries and which was reissued in a new edition which is available from the ARLIS/NA website.

Hope this helps even if it doesn't necessarily make you or your students particularly happy.
