About the Program

 


Marketing and Media: Promoting Cultural Collections 


 

How can your institution best market its unique and special collections? This one-day program will address strategies for cultural institutions to effectively use in-house promotions and media and public relations to raise awareness of their collections. Speakers will discuss promotional materials, including newsletters, brochures, and annual reports; branding; media relations and writing a press release; and designing and using websites effectively. A panel of media experts will conclude the program with presentations on getting the media interested and an opportunity for questions and answers.

The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts 

CCAHA is a non-profit conservation laboratory serving other non-profit cultural, educational, and research institutions, as well as private individuals and organizations throughout the United States.  Founded in 1977, CCAHA specializes in the treatment of works of art and historic artifacts on paper, such as prints, maps, posters, historic wallpaper, photographs, rare books, scrapbooks, and manuscripts, as well as parchment and papyrus.  CCAHA also offers on-site consultation services, educational programs and seminars, emergency assistance, and internships and fellowships.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), a not-for-profit membership organization <http://www.pennsylvaniahorticulturalsociety.org/membership/index.html>  founded in 1827, motivates people to improve the quality of life and create a sense of community through horticulture. PHS's McLean Library supports the horticultural and urban greening activities of the staff, and welcomes novice gardeners, experienced horticulturists, scholars, students and Society members.
