Dear colleagues:
I'm sure most of you know that the newsletter of the College Art
Association has changed to a electronic version only. This is just a
reminder that the latest issue has been published.

Best wishes,
Amanda Bowen
ARLIS/NA Liaison to CAA

The September issue of CAA News has just been published. Please go to www.collegeart.org/news to download a PDF of the issue.

In this issue, we announce Donny George as our Convocation speaker for the 2008 Annual Conference, to be held February 20-23 in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. Formerly director of the National Museum in Baghdad, the renowned archaeologist now teaches at Stony Brook University and has spoken to Zainab Bahrani, a specialist in ancient Near Eastern art, about the current state of cultural heritage in Iraq.

In addition, we present two essays on assessment and outcomes for art-history classes, continuing a precedent of publishing on pedagogical issues in academia and the arts set two years ago. We hope these texts, divergent in their points of view, are thought provoking and useful as the school year begins.

This and forthcoming issues of CAA News will also contain crucial conference information. Looking ahead, the annual Conference Registration and Information booklet, to be mailed to you later this month, contains full registration details, information on special tours, workshops, and events at area museums, Career Fair instructions, and much more. This publication, as well as additional updates, will also be posted to http://conference.collegeart.org/2008 in early October.

Formerly a printed publication, CAA News is published six times a year as a PDF; it can be downloaded, read onscreen, or printed. For questions and more information, please write to Christopher Howard, CAA News editor, at [log in to unmask]

Submissions are still being accepted for the November issue until September 17. Please visit http://www.collegeart.org/news/guidelines.html for guidelines and details.
