Colleagues,

Thanks to Janis Manzo at RISD for confirming what we suspected re: the Hirst catalog.

The "drawings" on the pages indicated are part of the book's production.

Cheers,

Peter Blank

Hi Peter,

My copy of the hardback cased Hirst book also with the unsigned stamp
also has scribbles on those pages.  They are printed in the book.
347: says "toilet" and "possible title" in the wide left margin and
"CHRISTMAS!" crossed out, among other writing.  349: two stick figures
sort of holding hands (maybe) and other writing.  351: "*at about this
point Damien started doing a drawing of me, upside down" and a little
more writing, too.  If this is what your copy also has, then, great!
your copy has not been defaced.  We keep our copy in special
collections because we categorize it as a flat folio and probably also
because of the scribbles that could be added to.

Hope this helps,

Greetings Friends,

Our copy of the following is not one of the signed sets (ours ink stamped "Unsigned"), but has what looks like "original" drawings on pages 347, 349, 351. I can't tell if a patron(s) decided to draw and scrawl like Hirst and added their own markings to the catalog, or if part of the production of the catalog was to print the pages so they would look as if someone had drawn on the pages. I suspect the later as what looks like pencil does not erase.

But could someone check their copy can confirm the "drawings" on those pages.

Thanks,

Peter Blank
