I agree with Jonathan.  I recall the ordeals and expense of a printed directory when I was ARLIS/NA president ten years ago and the complaints the product always generated.  Having a 'live' version that can be updated as needed makes sense.  Creating a pdf version of the handbook and directory at least once a year would also be practical: members could print/download the files they wanted and HQ could print an archival paper copy.
