With great pleasure, I am announcing the new Head of the FA Library at Indiana University, Bloomington, effective August 29, '07. Many of you already know Tony White who has been active in ARLIS/NA. Tony also worked with me at Indiana during his MLS degree and we welcome his return to our ARLIS Midstates Chapter.
I will continue my enduring relationship with the Society and am looking forward to seeing everyone next year in Denver as well as in INDIANAPOLIS in 2009!!

Prior to this appointment, Tony served at the Pratt Institute Library in Brooklyn, NY as Art and Architecture Librarian from 2004 to 2007, as well as Interim Director of Reader Services in 2006. Previous to his positions at Pratt, Tony worked in numerous art and conservation/preservation capacities, including Scanning Technician at the IUB Fine Arts Library, Graduate Assistant at the IUB Libraries Preservation Department, Conservation Assistant at Yale University, Preservation Technician at the Northeast Document Conservation Center in Springfield, MA, and Assistant Director of Klein Art Works in Chicago.
Tony's academic credentials include an MFA with an emphasis in Photography, Print Media, and Book Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MLS with specialization in Art Librarianship and Special Collections from Indiana University, and a Post-MLS certificate in Preservation Management for Libraries and Archives from Rutgers University.
As Head, Fine Arts Library, Tony will oversee the operation of both the Fine Arts Library and the Fine Arts Visual Resources Center (formerly the Slide Library) where he will be working with Eileen Fry; develop the Libraries’ collections in the areas of visual arts, art history, architecture, design and related disciplines; serve as liaison to Art History and Studio Art faculty; teach “Research Sources in Art History” for the Department of the History of Art and provide subject-specific reference assistance and instruction for students and faculty in the School of Fine Arts and the Indiana University community/bji.
