Greetings colleagues,
Just received a report that beginning in 2008 Art & Antiques will
only be available for purchase directly from the publisher. They choose
to no longer work with serial vendors. Not a huge problem. A bit of a
pain for our acquisitions department.
But it does raise an interesting question.
With competition for the journal dollar at an all time high, and with
acquisition, processing, and technical services staff dwindling, why
continue to subscribe to titles that are of limited value and require
additional effort to obtain? Would my community find their research
hampered should Art & Antiques no longer on our shelves?
I doubt it.
Comments?
Cheers,
Peter Blank
