ARLIS/North America Twin Cities Chapter will be offering members an opportunity to tour the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis on August 6. The new theater was designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in 2006. Chapter members Martha Ruddy and Joon Mornes have worked with the Guthrie staff to create a customized tour that will include more of the architecture. Accompanying the tour will be Scott Sorenson. Scott is the architect from the Architecture Alliance who worked with Jean Nouvel's office staff from beginning to the completion of the Guthrie project. He spent a month in Paris working in Nouvel's office at the beginning of the project and continued to work with staff sent to Minneapolis from Paris. He will share his experience working with Nouvel's office and the architecture of the new building. The tour of the Guthrie Theater will be on Monday, August 6, at 10:30 a.m. Attendees are to meet on Level 4, Main Lobby area before 10:30 a.m. There is a fee of $6.00 for the tour. Reservations are required and must be made no later than July 19. Attendees can pay by check (payable to ARLIS/NA Twin Cities) on the day of the tour. Please note that once you have signed up, you will be responsible to pay the $6.00 even if you cannot make the tour. For more information and to RSVP kindly contact Martha Ruddy <[log in to unmask]>.
