Kathy,

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the term in
"Bookbinding and the conservation of books" (Library of Congress, 1982) is:

"French fold: A sheet of paper printed on one side only and folded over from
left and right to form a "section" with uncut bolts. The inside of the fold
is blank."
(Online version at http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/don/dt/dt1447.html)

I just copy-cataloged a book that has pages like this, "Julie Speidel"
(Museum of Northwest Art, 2006).

Subject: [ARLIS-L] Page term query

Arlis-l can always be depended upon to come up with answers, so I hope
the bibliophiles among you can help: is there a term to describe the
pages of a book where the pages are double, i.e., they are folded at the
fore edge? This is not an older book whose pages are uncut, but a
contemporary title with no printing or illus. on the inside of the
folded pages. The intent is obviously to make the paper feel heavier
and the volume thicker. Your assistance is appreciated.
