Greetings colleagues and friends!

I am pleased to announce that the Student Affairs Discussion Group voted unanimously during our meeting in Atlanta to change its name to ArLiSNAP (Art Library Students & New ARLIS* Professionals).  The change was made for two reasons:

First, Student Affairs recognizes that the web site http://www.arlisnap.org has become our virtual identity and continues to fulfill the goals of our group by "creating a resource for all student and new professional members of any Art Libraries Society, providing an open forum for sharing ideas pertinent to art librarianship, and allowing participants to capitalize on the shared experiences and knowledge of the art library community."    

Second, Student Affairs believes that the acronym ArLiSNAP (standing for "Art Library Students & New ARLIS* Professionals" [the asterisk signifies that we invite international members to join our online community]), better represented the group as a whole.  We are a group that is open to (and concerned with) new professionals as well as students, and we believe that the ArLiSNAP name communicates this more clearly.

So, whether we meet online or off, we will henceforth be doing so as ArLiSNAP!  We continue to welcome all members of the ARLIS community to visit http://www.arlisnap.org, see what we've been up to, and chime in.

And finally, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the incoming Co-Moderator of the ArLiSNAP group.  I will be joining Megan Macken (Assistant Director, Visual Resources Collection University of Chicago) who will be serving her second year as Co-Moderator.  Please do not hesitate to contact either of us should you have questions or comments about the ArLiSNAP group.
