The Delaware College of Art and Design seeks a Library Director responsible
for planning and directing of all library policies and operations. The
Delaware College of Art and Design, a creative partnership of Pratt
Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design, is located in
Wilmington, DE. It offers the Associate of Fine Arts degree in Animation,
Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design and Photography.
The Edgar A. Thronson Library currently consists of over 9,000 items which
focuses primarily on the professional art and design curriculum. Visit our

Duties: 

The Library Director works with faculty, the Director/Dean of the College,
and various committees to develop short and long-range goals as well as
assessment measures for the library collection and its physical facility.  

 

The Library Director also works with faculty and staff to develop an
appropriate and useful collection responsive to the needs of the faculty,
the students, and the curriculum.  Additional responsibilities include:
overseeing all collection purchasing and processing, making decisions as to
gifts; developing the annual library budget; maintaining effective
information services for students and faculty, including
orientation/workshops, bibliographies, and reference services; establishing
library hours and policies based on input from the advisory committee,
overseeing purchasing of equipment and supplies for the library, interacting
with donors wishing to make gifts to the library in a timely fashion;
preparing statistical reports on various pertinent library activities;
maintaining library webpage; and selecting and supervising other library
staff with the approval of the Director/Dean of the College.  

 

The Library Director must also stay familiar with the College's curriculum,
developments in the art and design world, and with information science and
technology to insure up-to-date services in the library.

 

Requirements:

Requires an MLS degree; a second master's degree, or undergraduate degree in
art history or studio art is highly desirable.  A minimum of three years of
library administration is required, along with a strong background in art
reference, technical services processing, collection development, and
information technology.
