In conjunction with the film research session "Gone with the Wind and Beyond," film night this year will feature the Academy Award winning film Driving Miss Daisy.  Matthew Bernstein, Chair of Film Studies at Emory University, will introduce the film, set in 1940's Atlanta, highlighting local physical and cultural details.  Matthew Bernstein is currently working on a book of history of film culture in segregated Atlanta.  The evening promises many interesting insights into this local film classic.

DATE & TIME:  Friday, April 27th - 8pm to 10pm

SCREENING LOCATION:  The film will be screened at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Atlanta campus.

FULL PROGRAM:

5pm-8pm       Tours of SCAD's Library will be offered from 5pm-8pm (and 12pm-1pm) on Friday.

7pm               Concession style refreshments will be served courtesy of SCAD

8pm-10:30pm Film Program
- Welcome by Ron Rayman, SCAD Dean of Libraries and Academic Services
- Brief program introduction, Greta Earnest and Erin Elliott
- 4 minute short film What would happen if you Drank an Yves Tanguy?" compliments of Microcinema International, Film Night sponsor
- Introduction to Driving Miss Daisy by Matthew Bernstein, Chair of Film Studies, Emory University
- Screening of Driving Miss Daisy (99 minutes)

TRANSPORTATION:
A shuttle bus will run continuously between the Colony Sheraton Hotel and the Savannah College of Art and Design from noon until 11pm.  The bus will pick up passengers at the hotel entrance, and on the exit side of the driveway in front of the SCAD building.  Please be sure to wear conference badges for access to the shuttle.
