Dear Gail,
Our volumes of Art Journal (London) are falling apart at Emory, too! I
think I had asked JSTOR a few years back to put this on their list of
potential items to be digitized and even offered our copies for the
process. Maybe it is time to revisit.
I would also be interested in hearing what you learn about the quality
of the microfilm.
Sincerely,

Art Journal on microfilm
One of our curators is interested in
recommending that our library purchase the Art Journal (London) on
microfilm. Volumes 11-74 (1849-1912) were filmed by
University Microfilms.
Our experience with some of other
microfilmed journals has not always been satisfactory - print was too
small to read, print from the page on the other side "bled" through
into the page you were reading, etc.
Does anyone have experience with using
the Art Journal on microfilm? It has been difficult for us to locate a
library which would even loan the microfilm of one of these volumes, so
we have not used it ourselves.
Thank you.
