Then why are they on the new headings list? I'm sure when I last checked (at least 8 years ago), Art, Primitive had a note similar to the AAT note for the same heading, which listed it as an "outdated designation."

Joan,
I don't think they ever went away, even though some might wish it so. And "Art, Polynesian" and "Inca art" aren't new either. What's new is "Indigenous art", which references "Art, Primitive" (in the 680 note) and "Ethnic art" (as a 550).
