Cataloger/Associate Librarian -
Catalog and assist with the processing and storing of
library materials; assist the Library Director with maintenance and development
of library services for museum staff and public.
Duties include: Original and copy cataloging of
monographic and serial materials in all formats; oversee technical services
workflow and quality control; assist in supervising paraprofessional
catalogers, library assistants, and volunteers; provide reference and research
service to museum staff and public; work with Library Director to establish
departmental policies and procedures, as well as long-range planning;
coordinate the implementation and maintenance of library software and upgrades;
liaise with museum IT department and Texas Christian University; responsible
for local system administration of EX LIBRIS and OCLC; facilitate interlibrary
loan and exchange programs; assist Webmaster in maintaining the library’s
web presence; participate in staff training; compile library statistics and
administer stack storage areas. Reports to Library Director.
Requires: ALA-accredited MLS with at least three
years of cataloging experience; thorough knowledge of cataloging principles and
procedures including AACR2, USMARC formats, LCSH, authority control, and LC
classification; in-depth experience with an integrated library system (EX
LIBRIS and OCLC preferred); excellent computer skills including HTML, MS
Office, and Outlook; ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with a diverse community of colleagues and library users; ability
to work independently and as part of a team; background in art history and/or
American history preferred.
