Book Arts Enthusiasts,
We have been able to add one final session to the "At the Turn of the
Centuries: The Influence of Early 20th Century Book Arts on
Contemporary Artists' Books" conference to be held at Yale University
on April 13, 2007:

Timothy G. Young, Associate Curator of Modern Books and Manuscripts,
Beinecke Library, will discuss "Language Beyond Language," using
artists books from the Beinecke's collection that employ the use of
pseudo-, quasi-, and sub-verbal language.

A few seats remain at the time of this posting (Feb. 15, 11:15am
EST). The other four afternoon sessions are currently filled. Even
if you are not able to register for the one-hour afternoon session,
there are still many seats available for the morning lectures by
Marcia Reed, Stephen Bury and Angela Lorenz. I encourage you to sign
up for the morning session, explore one of the museums or libraries
of Yale in the afternoon, then join us for the closing reception.

The Yale University Art Gallery has been recently renovated and is
stunning. The Yale Center for British Art is an amazing space with
superb collections.
The Sterling Memorial Library and the Beinecke Rare Book and
Manuscript Library also feature unusual architecture and have their
own exhibit programs.
You could even see the "Yale Whale," an ice rink designed by Eero
Saarinen and recently voted one of the top 150 buildings (#149) in
America by a new survey by the American Institute of Architects.
