Error during command authentication.

Error - unable to initiate communication with LISTSERV (errno=10061, phase=CONNECT, target=127.0.0.1:2306). The server is probably not started. Colleagues,

I have already received many emails in answer to the question of leveraging full text access for arts journals.  A few points appear to be emerging:

-Database vendors must understand the need to put text and image together when presenting offerings; for details see discussions ensuing at CSA (http://www.csa.com/factsheets/abmird-set-c.php

-Full text access in the arts is too tightly bound into the digital image rights discussion and could be separated into a discussion of the journal as an entity

-Users now expect the full text access and may turn to substandard research to compensate

Thank you to those who have seconded the need for a group to work with vendors on this.    Obviously, it is a topic of discussion with vendors at ARLIS in Atlanta.  I am happy to receive more emails on this subject.  It would also be good to discuss this on the listserve.

thanks,

lucie
