Does anyone know of any churches or other buildings having stained glass using the image of Millet's The Sower? John Gilbert Lloyd's Stained Glass in America (1963) mentions that "Such popular canvas paintings as ... Mellet's [sic] The Sower ... were reproduced over and over again in opalescent glass." (p. 61) Also, a similar statement in Chicago Ceramics & Glass, by Sharon S. Darling (1979, p. 117) appears: "For churches, such popular artworks as ... Jean Francois Millet's The Sower ... were reproduced over and over by local glass firms." She may well have borrowed from Lloyd. I would appreciate any leads anyone can give me. At this point, I think the information may come from personal knowledge of those out in the field.Lois F. CraneLibrarianWichita Art Museum
