Administers all aspects
of collection: slides, digital images, books, periodical subscriptions, videos,
and DVDs. Provide reference services focused on VRC to students and faculty.
Organize and classify materials and creates metadata for digital images.
Supervise student employees and volunteers. Pursue professional development.
Qualifications:
MA in library science/information management with advanced knowledge of Art
History AND two years experience in the operation of visual resource
collection. Must have knowledge of cataloging systems and technical services used
in visual image collections. Experience with digital information formats and
familiarity with their use and application. Knowledge of how to use digital
image collections in academic settings. Knowledge of access issues related to
user needs of visual images in both traditional and electronic formats for
academic teaching and research. Ability to maintain active collection of print
materials (books, journals, periodicals) and media collections. Familiarity
with emerging trends and standards in visual materials including copyright
issues. Advanced knowledge of current collection development and management
issues involving visual resources and curriculum support units. Experience
working with online course management tools (e-learning systems) helpful. Acquaintance
with relevant languages in Art History. Proven ability to work effectively with
diverse constituencies. The ability to work collegially with faculty, staff,
students and the public is a necessary skill for this position. Ability to
provide bibliographic/research training to both individuals and groups
(students). Experience working within a budget. An interest in continual
learning and training, especially in the areas related to visual resource
collection management. Should have experience with MAC and PC computers;
MicroSoft Office software, including Powerpoint; database software (FileMaker
Pro), Internet, slide and digital projectors; video and DVD players; Image
editing software, digital cameras, and other media equipment.
Salary:
commensurate with experience.
