Visual Resources Curator Wheaton College Norton, MA Term: Full-time, 12 months Reports to: Director of Technology for Research and Instruction Description: The Visual Resources Curator is primarily responsible for developing, administering and coordinating services associated with the Art History and other college image collections consisting of slides and digital images and for providing support for faculty use of visual resources for teaching, learning and scholarship. Specifically, the Visual Resources Curator will collaborate and work closely with faculty and other LIS staff to continue the development of a teaching-based image collection and he/she will coordinate the production of images including photographing, scanning and cataloging of images. In addition, he/she will contribute to the development of future digital resource management initiatives and will identify and assess new technologies and resources. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in relevant field and minimum of three years of relevant work experience in an academic setting or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree preferred. Solid knowledge of art or art history and a familiarity with producing, cataloging, classifying and preserving visual images is essential. Experience with new media, including web development tools and digital imaging technology and proficiency with Photoshop, FileMaker Pro and desktop applications including word processing and spreadsheets is necessary. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively with diverse groups and a commitment to service are a must.
