Good day, all – We recently had a flood in our
basement, and a few dozen sets of drawings were damaged. The insurance
company is asking for us to document the damage, without much explanation of
the type of documentation that they need. We are not sure how to explain
the value these drawings hold. We were hoping to speak to another
librarian or archivist that has been through this before, especially in regards
to architectural drawings, to see if you have any advice to share about the
computation of cost and documentation of loss that the insurance company may
require.
Additionally, we are also interested in talking to someone
who may have drawings from our firm’s founder, or one of his
contemporaries, in their collection, and to know if the drawings are insured
for any amount of money.
Please respond to me off list.
Thanks in advance for what the collective knowledge may
offer—
