I fondly remember assisting Dr. Lindemann with her research for the
exhibition and catalog The Art Triangle (1989). This was during my
employment at the Albright-Knox. I enjoyed working with her, and our
talks; she was a gracious lady. Funny, I was just thinking about her a
few days ago.

Subject: Re: Dr. Edna M. Lindemann

Dr. Edna M. Lindemann--another outstanding woman with ties to ARLIS,
the =
arts information profession, and a colleague of Ms. Florence =
DaLuiso--recently passed away.

Dr. Lindemann was the founder and director of the Charles Burchfield =
Center at Buffalo State College--renamed and now known as the =
Burchfield-Penney Art Center. During her tenure, the Center's =
collections grew by 3000% to include over 100 Burchfield paintings,
more =
than 300 drawings, nearly 100 wallpaper works and all of the artist's
=
prints, which were obtained mostly by gift. It was through her vision
=
and leadership, more importantly, that the Center successfully acquired
=
a sizeable collection of personal papers of Charles Burchfield--a =
decision that reflected Dr. Lindemann's keen understanding and value of
=
library and archival materials, particularly in a museum setting, as =
historical documentation on the life, career, and oeuvre of an artist.
=
Long unrecognized, Dr. Lindemann--in close collaboration with Ms. =
DaLuiso--was an early participant, organizer, and supporter of =
ARLIS/Western New York, one of the oldest regional chapters. Dr. =
Lindemann was nominated for the ARLIS Distinguished Service Award in =
2004.

Below is the obituary:
