The Los Angeles Preservation Network (LAPNet) invites you to attend a
workshop:

Protecting Library Collections Part 2: Disaster Response in Action, to
be held at The Huntington Library, San Marino, Calif. on Wed. Sept. 13,
2006

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM

This program builds on a LAPNet workshop held on May 11, 2006 at Loyola
Marymount University and conducted by Julie Page, but attendance at the
first workshop is by no means required.  Recommended for library
administrators and those having responsibility for emergency
preparedness, response, and decision-making from public, academic,
school & special libraries, historical societies & archives.

The remainder of the day will be spent on hands-on sessions.  Attendees
will break out into small groups and instructors will demonstrate a
number of activities and techniques used in the salvage of wet books,
pamphlets, loose papers and media.  Attendees will handle wet materials
and get a chance to practice various techniques, such as inter-leaving,
air-drying and packing wet books for freezing.

This program will be held at The Huntington Library, in Friends Hall,
which is located in the area of the main entrance kiosk.  Parking is
