Assistant for Cataloging and Digitizing
School of Art,
Major/Essential Functions:
Assist with transition from analog to
digital. Catalog slides and digital images, maintain order records. Research
information for cataloging using Internet sources, books, and other media.
Maintain and update cataloging database, imaging software, and presentation
systems. Scan images for addition to collection and for faculty use. Catalog
and maintain small collection of videos, DVDs, CD-Roms, books and periodicals.
File slides and maintain organization in drawers. Assist faculty and students
with use of collections, including online access to digital images. Monitor
circulation of slides, media, and equipment. Maintain slide projectors and
digital projection equipment in classrooms and on portable projection carts.
Assist Curator with day-to-day operations of
Occasional Duties:
Assist faculty, staff and students with
technical questions on equipment, image software, scanning, etc. Operate and
troubleshoot projection equipment in classrooms. Install and update software
and assist with
Preferred Qualifications:
College coursework in an area related to
visual resources, such as art history, museum science, history, library
science, or digital media. Experience cataloging in visual resource center or
library, or museum registrar experience. Reading knowledge of one foreign
language and ability to catalog in others.
Experience using databases, preferably Access and Filemaker Pro. Ability to use
both Mac and PC platforms. Experience with scanning, producing, accessing, and
using digital images. Knowledge of digital file formats and image quality.
Experience with Powerpoint or other software for image presentation.
Photography experience and customer service experience helpful
