Hiroo Iwata, Hiroshi Tomioka and Hiroaki Yano from the University of Tsukuba in Central Japan have created a pair of motorized roller skates enabling the user
to explore virtual reality in a limited space.
 
This type of invention may point toward making biennial exhibitions available as
virtual spaces in other parts of the world than their original location, and open
up new possibilities in cases such as the cancellation of Manifesta 6 because of
the political tensions in Cyprus.
 
At this age of interactive communication, biennial exhibitions should consider the
option of digitization and the creation of virtual rooms exposing as many people as possible to developments in the world of contemporary art.  Be sure to watch the
