Dear Friends - Jeff Cunard, CAA Counsel, has suggested how to make your
letter regarding Orphan Works even more effective than Prue Adler's very
general, though to-the-point letter. Here's what he recommends: ".some
appropriate points for these letters: how OW are used by the writer, why
what the writer does contributes to scholarship, creativity, etc., what the
problems are with using OWs, how the legislation is helpful/solves the
problems (or at least meaningfully addresses the problem), that the Member
of Congress should resist attempts to water it down, or render it useless,
and that the Member should support the bill and act rapidly to support its
enactment."

If anybody needs more background on Orphan Works, you may check out my
website - http://www.uoregon.edu/~csundt/copyweb/ I have devoted a new
section to the happenings associated with Orphan Works with documents,
transcripts, and audio files from various hearing that led up to the current
action.

Thanks, again, for your help.
