Dear ARLIS members,

I just spent an interesting 45 minutes trying to help someone find
information on the history of light wells in buildings, the more ancient the
better.

I checked many architectural dictionaries and found definitions but no
history; we searched WilsonWeb and found some articles but they were mostly
about the re-design of drab and bland light wells. I checked RedLightGreen
and found some promising-looking titles, but didn't quite find what she was
looking for. She said she'd done some Web surfing and found something that
said the Minoans may have used light wells in their buildings.

Any recommendations? Thanks very much.

Sara
