I too would like to thank Ann and the Board for listening to the
concerns of the membership and acting accordingly and positively.
Perhaps creating a task force to investigate further the issues
raised, to communicate with both the chapters and the Board, and make
some final recommendations would be helpful?

Yes, National bylaws need to be followed and liability/insurance
issues addressed, but chapters should not be disenfranchised from
either National conceptually nor during the decision-making processes.

Chapters not only provide a productive grassroots environment for
continuing education and professional development, but they also
provide considerable support to National (conference hosting,
conference monetary support, new members, etc.). It seems to me that
it would be very easy for the chapters to simply revert to local art
librarian groups without any ARLIS affiliation and keep doing exactly
what they successfully do, and probably with a little more freedom.
That would not be a good thing for National at this point in the
organization's life, but I think we all want to keep the larger
organization strong and forward-moving by working through this
situation.

>Dear ARLIS/NA members,
>I want to let you know that the Board is hearing your very real concerns

>The Board wants to apologize for making a decision about the collection

>Thank you all very much for your comments, your concern, and your
