Please excuse cross posting.

I expect to receive a grant this coming fall to fund the creation of metadata to describe images that a graduate student will be taking in India as part of a study abroad studio.  I was wondering if anyone has a model for such an approach to collection development and whether you might share your experiences with me.

I am particularly interested in the following aspects of this endeavor:

1) Recommended digital camera equipment
2) Benchmarks for image size and resolution given potential technical and logistical constraints
3) Digital file storage issues and recommended approaches to decrease possible for data loss (I'm particularly interested in solutions for dealing with large image files on-the-road.)

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Cheers,
