Reference Librarian
- Full-time (Academic
year Sun – Thurs 2PM – 10PM; summer & holiday hours vary.)
OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Readers’ Services
Librarian, provide reference, library orientation, and bibliographic
instruction, write and edit resource guides, and recommend new reference
materials. Coach faculty members and librarians in individual and group
instruction on integrating new technologies into teaching. Participate with
other librarians on promoting library collections and services.
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. Background in art history preferred.
Three years professional reference experience, including bibliographic
instruction in an art library strongly preferred. Knowledge of contemporary
art, architecture, and design, and an awareness of cross-disciplinary issues in
an art library. Reading knowledge of French, German, or Italian helpful.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary. Ability to work
collegially within a small unit that is flexible and extremely responsive to
patrons. Ability to use a full range of text and electronic resources in the
arts and related areas. Ability to work alone and as a team member. Strong
technology background especially in emerging teaching and library technologies.
Salary: Minimum
$37,000 [Librarian I], $50,000 [Librarian II]; excellent benefits, including
