Project Archivist

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is seeking a full-time Project
Archivist. Reporting to the Head Librarian, the Project Archivist is
responsible for establishing, organizing, and processing designated
collections within the Archives collection, establishing physical and
intellectual control, and creating detailed paper and electronic finding
aids.  The Project Archivist will also be required to develop concrete
guidelines that can be applied to arranging and describing similar
collections in the future. 

 

The successful candidate will possess a MLIS from an ALA-accredited program
with course work in archives administration, or Masters in archival
management, with a minimum of 3-5 years experience processing archives,
preparing finding aids, and working with institutional records within a RMP.
Certified Archivists and/or records managers with experience having
established an archives/RMP from the ground up preferred.

 

This is a grant-funded, 24 month full-time position with excellent benefits,
including paid health, dental and vision benefits in addition to paid
vacation, holidays, and sick time.
