Dear Colleagues,
Many thanks to all of you who answered my query about
the salaries offered Graduate assistants in academia. There were nine
respondents, seven from US institutions and two from Canada. Two each from
the same institutions. The average pay rate for the U.S. is $9.6, with a median
of $8.75. One institution offered $9 per hour + 97.5% tuition remission. Another
offered $6 + an undisclosed amount of tuition remission and a stipend. The
Canadian institution offered $17-18 CAN + holiday pay and 7% in lieu of
benefits.
