My institution is also a Grove Art and, soon, ARTstor subscriber so the programming of these sessions at the same time was not done without due consideration.
Of course you must all know that scheduling the conference is not easy and there will always be conflicts in the schedule. The ARTstor and Grove Art meeting days and times were agreed to by ARTstor and Grove. We had planned to have these meetings in adjacent rooms to facilitate movement between the sessions. We need to use the early hours for meetings because there isn't enough time otherwise. We also thought that because most people will be coming from the east or south of us, that the early time would have less of an impact. It will be light outside at that time.
Having said all of the above, I can appreciate your concerns. As ARTstor scheduled their meeting first, I am reluctant to change theirs. Peter, I would recommend that you talk to Grove Art about this and, if appropriate, have a look at the program schedule and together with Grove suggest an alternate day and time. Send this information to me and I will see if there is a room available at the suggested day and time.....note that I can't promise a change. Also consider that a change will impact your colleagues who have already registered.

A couple of thoughts on the scheduling of the ARTstor and Grove meetings.
Since these two resources are widely used by ourselves and our constituencies, it is unfortunate that the meetings are scheduled against each other. While I appreciate the difficulties encountered in conference planning, I suspect there are many of us who need to attend both but will be the only conference attendees from our respective institutions. And running back and forth between multiple meetings, often the last resort in such cases, just does not work. I have additional reservations about scheduling any meetings at 7:00, but perhaps there is no alternative?
Can this situation be remedied in any way?
In the interests of full disclosure I should state that I serve on the Grove Art Advisory Board and that my institution subscribes to both resources.
Regards to all,
Peter Blank
