The first meeting of
the ARLIS/Twin Cities chapter for 2006 will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at the
Textile
Center in
Minneapolis: http://www.textilecentermn.org/ . The
Textile
Center is a national center for fiber
art. Its mission is to promote excellence in fiber art, and preserve textile
traditions. The Center represents and supports fiber artists in all forms of
textiles including weaving, quilting, knitting, sewing, needlework, lace making,
basketry and beading. The Center also has a circulating library with over 9,000
items.
Plan to arrive by
9:15 am for refreshments followed by a
brief business meeting at 9:30. Items on the agenda will include an
overview of meeting venues for 2006, discussion of a proposal to promote the
Twin
Cities as the site for a future
ARLIS/NA national conference, and developing guidelines for a chapter travel
award that would begin in 2007. A
detailed agenda will be sent out to attendees by March 1. A tour of the facility, led by the
Textile
Center’s Librarian, Nancy Mambi, will
follow at about 10. We should be
finished up by approximately 11
am.
